June 6, 2019: TSM International is excited and proud to announce the signing of Eritrean-American star forward and University of Akron alumni Ezana Kahsay

Ezana signed with the Virginia Beach City FC of the NPSL for the 2019 season that started last month.  Ezana finished his college career at the University of Akron by playing in three (3) NCAA Division 1 “Final Four” tournaments where he played a major role since his freshman year. Ezana’s final season at Akron in 2018 proved that his potential to play at the highest of levels remain realistic. His accolades include being chosen twice by TopDrawerSoccer.com to its National Team of the Week and also named to the MAC All-Tournament Team. Even with Akron’s crowded squad of excellent players, Ezana stood out on and off the field as a great student athlete.

Ezana made his debut for VB City against FC Baltimore on May 12th, 2019 and he kicked off the scoring in the first minute, just 13 seconds in, which is the quickest goal in VB City FC history. Ezana played extremely well in his first game for the VB City FC in difficult weather conditions and proved his worth as a great team player. A week later on May 19th, 2019,  VB City FC knocked off the Charlottesville Alliance FC 2-0 to earn their first win of the season. Ezana once again scored in the 40th minute and earned Man of the Match honors in just his second game of the season.

In the third friendly between Virginia Beach City FC and MLS club DC United, the two clubs played to an exciting 1-1 draw and Ezana showed many flashes of brilliance throughout. Ezana was very excited about getting the opportunity to play against an MLS team and when asked about his future, he had this to say about his short brilliant season so far as a member of VB City FC:

“Playing here has been a great match for me as it is the right step in the right direction towards a good career path…I enjoy the coaching here at VBCFC. its a good fit for me as I pursue my dreams of playing in a bigger league.”

He went on to express his gratitude that TSM International was able to connect him with a good team which can help him further develop as he continues his progression to play at the highest levels.

On June 2nd in the NPSL National Game of the Week against FC Frederick, Ezana added two (2) goals in a five-minute span late in the 74th and 78th minutes, doubling the Virginia Beach City FC lead to 4-0. He now has four (4) goals this season and has scored in each of VB City FC's three NPSL contests. He is clearly on his way to becoming an outstanding professional player.
